A fair day, for sure! Saturday, 8/8/15

After our usual Saturday morning trip to Nevada City's farmer's market, Jimmy and I drove the few miles to the county fairgrounds in Grass Valley.  We're very fortunate in that this beautiful tree-covered fairgrounds stays open daily for walkers, bikers and joggers ... and the terrain is flat and the paths are paved.  Jimmy is making mighty progress on his walking, including some hills, but level is good.  We could see lots of goings-on when we pulled into the parking lot -- they're setting up for the county fair, Aug 12-16 -- oh boy!  We bought two tickets at the "advance tickets window," so we'll be going!  Meantime, I whipped out my cell phone and took a few pictures.

Filling the bottom trays with sawdust for the chickens.  Bunnies go on the other side.

Livestock exhibits are some of the best parts of the fair.  It's fun seeing the 4-H kids present their finest.

Carnival rides!

Live entertainment, delicious food (their word, not mine), animals, and exhibits, all in a community-friendly environment at affordable family prices!  The walkways won't look like this when we return -- they'll be filled with folks having fun.  We'll join them!

  1. I love a good county fair. The 4-H exhibits are my favorite.

  2. Love those small town county fairs. What fun! And so great that Jimmy can walk around happily now and you can keep each other company. Wonderful

  3. Oh boy! So many years since we last went to a fair like this one.

  4. Like Sue said: nice that you two can get out & about now! Take pictures of the cutest animals, eh?

Your blog - It is so wonderful!

I just got all caught up.
I had only seen the finished drying driveway.

Travel safe and have a grand time wandering.
I love your freedom and being together doing what
you enjoy so much. You're very lucky folks, indeed!

    Hugs. T. A.
