Adios 2009 and Welcome to our new Lazy Daze RV!

This is our new-to-us (2005) motor home - a 27' Lazy Daze, made in Montclair, CA. It features a "living room" with two couches and large windows all around the rear of the unit, a nice big (comparatively speaking) full kitchen, full bath, dinette, and a queen-sized bed over the driver's cab. We flew to Arkansas to pick up this beauty! And then drove it to our condo in Daphne, AL.

Wakulla River in the Fall

Sunday dawned fine - perfect for launching our new inflatable tandem Sea Eagle (only our second time). The kayak performed great, and with a little more practice, the owners will as well... be able to inflate and deflate in no time, that is. We chose to kayak the spring-fed Wakulla River one way, and put in at Upper Bridge. Took out at Lower Bridge, with Smartie waiting for us. Such a pretty place to paddle. Spotted a bit of fall color along the way....

Beautiful and serene waterway. Cypress draped in Spanish Moss, with lots o' knees.

Smiley is posing for his photo! Look at (and enlarge) the last two unbelievable shots of this big bruiser and his pose!

Check out all the guys sticking their necks out!!

Always a treat to encounter the mythological sea cows (manatees). We spotted five this trip. People who have anchors on their boats (we don't yet) sometimes drop anchor just to sit near them while they peacefully graze the sea grass. Nice outing this day!

In the Deep South we wait all summer for mornings like these: Crispy cool and clear. Perfect for a stroll around the 2+ mile Southwood lakes, wearing a light jacket in the 60F weather. Click on any photo to enlarge.

Canada geese. One of the nature walk signs along the path. Flowers, w/ condos across the lake.

A favorite tree. Three of six Buteos (red-tailed hawks) performing aerial maneuvers. No baldies seen today.

A bridge spanning the smaller lake. Jimmy - happy to be outside on a gorgeous day!

Our condos across the lake. Didn't see our friend, Sherman. Everywhere a lovely picture.

Jimmy walking to our building. At our door. Gazebo and a pond opposite our condo with lots of fish and turtles. What a great place to live...!

08-28/29-09 Visit to Louisiana

At Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant in Baton Rouge on Friday.

Ruthie & Jimmy, Nannie & Bubba, Marcie & Johnny. Matt, Mom & Nannie goofing around!

On the swing. Me, Jimmy, Matt & Jen tearing into the crawfish.

Matt & Jen say: Yummy!

Jimmy and I drove from Tallahassee to Nannie & Bubba's in Baton Rouge. Matt and Jen flew into New Orleans and drove up to Baton Rouge, where we all met up and thoroughly enjoyed a brief reunion! We ate a fine dinner Friday nite at Ninfa's (where Matt used to work), and Nannie & Bubba hosted a muy delicious crawfish boil on Saturday. Jen got her first taste of crawfish AND Louisiana.... We all parted company Saturday evening, grateful for the chance, tho brief, to be together. Loved it!

Adios, Livingston (for now...) 7/19/09

Dinner at the Rib and Chop House. Our setting! Jimmy still catching fish (threw this one back).

Days are warm and right for tubing! And fishing!

Osprey flies overhead. Our last day at the picnic table, watching two lovers float hand-in-hand.

Our month in Livingston, Montana is over. Initially we wondered if the area would offer enough for us to do in a (whole!) month. We found out, all right. We'll be back....

Next stop: Tallahassee FL for a few months!
