August has brought daytime temps in the upper 80's with lows in the 50's here in Livingston, MT. Good fishing weather (must be, we're still catching trout). This year we've spent more time fishing than hiking or biking, tho we walk a couple of miles on the bike trail many mornings, and we rode our bikes all over town last Saturday. We've had a great fun fishing with our friends. Seven of us shared a trout/steak feast Wednesday evening, with everyone bringing a yummy side dish. When we were finished, one of us mentioned walking to the Pop Stand next door for an ice cream (it might have been me). Fred opted out, but the rest of us hopped up from the table with alacrity and trooped to the Pop Stand (a landmark on Hwy 89). I think everybody got a Moose Tracks cone.

On Saturday, Jimmy and I, Tom and Susan drove to the rodeo grounds in Livingston to see what's up at the Park County Fair. Lots of farm animals with lots of blue and purple ribbons, a "petting zoo," and a building full of homemade goodies, inc. some gorgeous quilts. We petted and sweet-talked to all sorts of animals and had a good time doing it! Wasn't a whole lot to the Fair, but we all had fun.

After the Fair and starving, we went to the Northern Pacific Beanery for sandwiches, followed by a stop at the Northern Pacific RR Museum. Housed in the beautiful restored 1902 Depot, the museum is a collaboration between Livingston and the RR to showcase the historical importance of the RR in the town, and they do a darned fine job of it, too. Look at the link below, which shows a photo of the building. I didn't think to get a picture of it myself!
