And Happy Birthday, Nannie! Today is everyone's annual chocolate binge day. At my sister's house we have enough candy to last a year (but it won't!). What could be a better breakfast than assorted chocolates?
From a big box!
We used to be asked if we were twins, but now that my hair is so much lighter, people don't ask that anymore. One time when we were grocery shopping together, the cashier asked, "Are y'all twins or are you sisters?" We'll always remember that one! No, I was born seven years before Nannie, and we've been buddies ever since. Like the acronym BFF -- best friends forever -- that's Nannie and me.
Still hungry? Not enough chocolate to eat? We went to City Cafe for lunch. Jimmy and Nannie ordered fried shrimp plates, Bubba got the fried catfish plate, and I enjoyed a pecan-encrusted chicken/spinach salad, feeling smug that my lunch wasn't fried (never mind yesterday's fried shrimp po-boy). When I told our waitress that it was Nannie's birthday, she was given a fudge-brownie -- to go, because we were all stuffed! O boy, more chocolate!
A meeting with our long-time friend, Shirley, always ALWAYS ends with lots of giggles. If laughter is good for people, then we are tip-top! Great seeing you, Shirley.
After returning to Nannie's, we could've napped, but while Jimmy and Bubba replaced Tergel's windshield wipers, the girls walked down the lane to pick camellias. As you can see, the bush below is loaded with blooms, as well as wearing a bright red skirt. Beautiful.
This one is called purple dawn.
Camellias aren't fragrant, but a glass bowl full of their dazzling Valentine-red color is perfect for today. And a perfect ending for our February 14th. Say goodnight to our sugar high!

It was a stellar valentine-birthday! Having y’all here made it super wonderful and special. Anybody want some chocolate? 🐷🐷
